Lanyards and cardholders can harbour bacteria. They are used in environments where hygiene is important such as healthcare and food and drink manufacture, so they should be considered in cleaning protocols.
Added Benefit: When considering the importance of hygiene we have made the decision to add Biomaster Antimicrobial Product Protection to our lanyards and cardholders. Biomaster can reduce the levels of bacteria on the products surface by inhibiting the ability of bacteria to grow, complimenting cleaning procedures in place. There is also the added environmental benefit in that the lanyards and card readers can be manufactured from recycled bottles
Study: Results from a published study highlighted a large percentage of pathogenic bacteria on both card holders and lanyards. This included methicillin- resistant Staphylococcus aureus, methicillin-sensitive S. aureus (MSSA), Enterococcus spp and aerobic gram-negative bacilli.
